With a population of 1.1million people, 190,000 of which live with HIV, Swaziland is currently experiencing the most severe HIV and AIDS epidemic in the world (source: The Global Fund).
But thanks to your (RED) purchases, (RED) and the Global Fund have helped make great progress. Swaziland is one of four African countries that has received (RED) money by way of the Global Fund. Funds generated through (PRODUCT) RED products and events are sent directly to the Global Fund to be invested in (RED) grants — pre-selected Global Fund-financed HIV and AIDS grants that have gone to Swaziland, Ghana, Lesotho and Rwanda, positively impacting the lives of people affected by HIV and AIDS in Africa. Since 2003 the Global Fund has invested millions of dollars from your (RED) purchases into Swaziland. In fact, (RED) money that has flowed to Swaziland over the past few years has supported Global Fund-financed
programs which have already:
• provided antiretroviral therapy for HIV and AIDS to more than 27,000 people
• reached over 25,000 pregnant women with preventative antiretroviral therapy to reduce the risk of mother-to-child-transmission of HIV
• reached over 168,000 people with voluntary counseling and testing for prevention of HIV
• provided education support for more than 96,500 vulnerable children
• trained almost 3,000 health workers to deliver home-based care for HIV and AIDS patients
• trained over 800 nurses and doctors in treating patients with HIV and AIDS
• trained over 150 midwives and doctors in the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV
• trained over 75 counselors to teach prevention of HIV
• supported 54 health centers that provide HIV counseling and testing
• established feeding schemes in 550 schools
• built 154 community feeding centers

Your stats show little more prevention than treatment. $ much better spent in education and prevention instead of treatment.
please see my facebook page to see how we are working on a grassroots level on education in swaziland.

thanks.. =)
thats was a very informative post thanks for sharing
Thanks (RED) for a GREAT post!
It's very important for all of us four years from the start of (RED) to look back on what we have accomplished with this endeavor.
So often our focus is on what more that we can do & our concern that we are not doing enough. What your post about Swaziland shows is that (RED) DOES WORK & is making a POSITIVE IMPACT on the lives of MILLIONS of African people.
What more could anyone ask for?
Take very good care, dear friends at (RED). I really love what y'all are doing with NIKE(RED)!
ALWAYS (RED) AT HEART, debbie :)
