(RED) and Fashion Week

Fashion Week. London. New York. (RED)’s been there.
The first night of New York Fashion Week saw the launch of an appropriately glamorous new (PRODUCT) RED Special Edition: the jewelry designer Solange Azagury-Partridge’s Hotlips ring for (RED).

The ring has been an instant hit. It’s already been spotted on the hands of some of (RED)’s famous friends – Alek Wek, Erin O’Connor, Daisy Lowe, Sienna Miller, Davina McCall and Elle MacPherson to name a few. All this is great news, as Solange is contributing 50% of its profits from the sale of each ring to the Global Fund to help eliminate AIDS in Africa.

(RED) continued its presence as the fashion world shifted across the Atlantic. At the Armani pop-up cafe in the St Martin’s Lane hotel in the heart of London Fashion week, the Armani team played host to the industry while (RED) videos played and bloggers tapped away on Dell (PRODUCT) RED Minis. Meanwhile, a team of journalists from Grazia, one of the UK’s favorite magazines, showed their support for (RED) by reporting from the front rows of the shows using their handbag sized Dell (PRODUCT) RED Minis.

U2 Live from the (RED)ZONE

Last Thursday, the (RED) US team headed out to see U2 perform live in front of a record-setting crowd of more than 84,000 people at Giants Stadium in New Jersey. We were there to celebrate what you—all of you—have done with this little (RED) idea that Bono had. Since (RED) launched in 2006, more than $135 Million generated to date, more than 4 million lives in Africa changed. Because of you. We were also there to honor what our colleagues at ONE have done to help free people in the developing world from poverty and disease. But mostly, we were there to see and hear and feel the show of our lives.

All I can say is if you have been to this show, you understand. And if you haven’t, do whatever you have to do to get tickets. It was joyful. It was loud. And we had the best view in the house, up against the barricade, next to the stage in what U2 is calling the (RED)ZONES. U2 is contributing all of their profits from the (RED)ZONE tickets to The Global Fund to help eliminate AIDS in Africa. It was a show we will never forget. But then, everything sounds sweeter when you are standing up to be part of a good thing. I guess you all knew that because we saw you there...in the crowd...flying your (RED) colors.

If you've bought (RED), lives are being changed because of you. Thanks to you my ears are still ringing. It feels great.

Step into Change

The highly anticipated Ian Ginoza designed Jack Purcell’s are available now, another great addition to the Converse 1HUND(RED) collection. These shoes have already made some noise in the sneaker community and we hope you’ll like them too. Another stylish way to join (RED) is to pick up a pair, and just in time for school.

The shoes are a premium version of the Jack Purcell 3 strap shoe, in white epi leather upper with luxury vintage texturing and rubber outsoles.

“I just wanted to make something hopeful,” Ian says of his 1HUND(RED) Jack Purcell V3 shoe design, which is inspired by a single white blood cell. “It’s about a clean slate--something completely pure.” Ian’s 1HUND(RED) shoe isn’t his first positive vision. The graphic designer turned sneaker aficionado turned entrepreneur, has always made something of his good ideas. The founder of Kicks Hawaii, Ian is a pioneer in the world of sneaker culture with significant contributions including two 2007 collaboration debuts in support of Converse (PRODUCT) RED and his highly sought after 2004 Kicks Hawaii Nike Dunk collaboration. Bringing the spirit of aloha to everything he touches, Ian recently joined Converse, where he now spends his days working on the brand’s most limited product.

The shoes retail for $90 and are available in the following locations: St. Alfred/Chicago, Huf/San Francisco, Bodega/Boston, UNDFTD/LA and Las Vegas, Commonwealth/DC, Canvas/Malibu, Barney's and Dave's Quality Meat/NYC, Dover Street Market/London, Wood Wood/Cophenhagen, Limited Edition/Barcelona, Patta/Amsterdam.
