Thank you. $140 million to Africa So Far.

The latest numbers are in. (RED) partners and events have contributed $140 million to date to the Global Fund to fund HIV/AIDS programs in Africa.

Because of you, (RED) funds have supported programs that have reached more than 4 million people with testing, counseling and medication.

And to quote our CEO Susan Smith Ellis, the impact that you have when you buy (RED) ‘truly transforms lives as people gain access to medicine, regain strength and can return to being active children, parents, workers and community leaders.’

Here’s to the next $140 million….

I'm highlighting (RED) in my school newspaper, a small contribution compared to the millions of people reached through (Product) RED, however, I believe in the cause and I’ll do what I can. =)Keep the good work up. You’re saving lives.

I am currently working on a project for my Masters of Communication in Digital Media at the University of Washington and I am trying to find out more about how technology (specifically cell phones) have helped combat AIDS in developing nations. I am also trying to expose the opportunities that arise in social media support for AIDS victims and their families and see how this kind of exposure can help combat the stigma associated with AIDS infection. If anyone has any questions, comments etc. please let me know you can contact me on Facebook @techiesagainstAIDS or on twitter @techiesvsaids.

I have become an advocate for Project Red on my blog, newmensch.com. I have another site that I will be pointing the users to (RED) issues as well.
