. . . . . and the (red) Independent, please don't forget that awesome item . . .

from (red) myspace page:

"THE INDEPENDENT GOES (RED) WITH DAMIEN HIRST

The UK's Independent newspaper will turn (RED) tomorrow raise awareness and money for the Global Fund, to help fight AIDS in Africa. To mark this event, a Damien Hirst Limited Edition print of the front page of the first ever (The Independent) RED edition will be exclusively available to readers of The Independent. The artwork is titled “No News Today” and will be signed by Damien Hirst and Bono. All proceeds from this sale will go directly to the Global Fund. Just 500 of these prints will be made available. Pick up your copy of The Independent tomorrow and Sunday for details of how to obtain one of these fantastic Limited Edition prints. "

that will be one of the highlights of my day tomorrow. friends in UK put one in the mail to me, and i can't wait so i read the articles online before i have a copy in my hand. but i think this is the fourth or fifth ones, and to me these are keepers.

my congressman is speaking at the World's AIDS Day event up in Bellingham tonight, i'm proud as can be of him and his support of the extreme poverty and hunger issues. i'm not sure what an appropriate greeting would be for World's AIDS Day, not happy W A D, but i hope it's a fruitful one for all in the war on extreme poverty. it's a day when the media and focus turn our way a little and we can take advantage of the moment to put the focus on the voiceless we are working for. and we have each other here for support.

this list of options here reflect that there is something for everyone, all of us can do something to support the great work of (red). and the new report, $50 million, pretty much $50 painless million by us shoppers upgrading our choices, absolutely awesome. thank you (red) for such appealing choices too.

great work everyone. stay close,

sammi =)

Dear Friends at (RED),

THANK YOU for everything that you are doing to speed up the day when we can say RIP HIV and make extreme poverty history.

PRODUCT (RED) has been a beacon of light and hope for over a million people in Africa in just its first year and a half of existence....and it promises to continue to increase its effectiveness for Africa's People for many years to come.

Our movement to make extreme poverty history is just beginning to see the first signs of progress of achieving our goals. This is a time of to RENEW & INTENSIFY OUR EFFORTS so that more people can survive and have futures worth living.

As I have from the start, I stand ready to assist (RED) in whatever way that I can to advance our goals.

ONE way that I try to assist you is to carry info on (RED) with me at my monthly ONE outreach booths in my community. (Austin TX)

I did that again last night when I staffed a ONE/(RED) outreach booth at a local music festival on World AIDS Day.

The night was a BIG success for many reasons - more sign ups for ONE, more people informed about their (RED) choices for Holiday purchases and beyond and my meeting with a web designer who offe(red) to assist me in the final development of a website that I'm preparing that will further our movement to make extreme poverty history!

Many people already knew about (RED) last night and were very enthused that they could buy (RED) Holiday cards and wrapping paper.

I left the venue with a very good feeling - five years to the day of the start of "The Heart of America" tour in 2002 in Lincoln, Nebraska where I witnessed Bono begin our latest chapter in "the journey of equality".~

Take very good care of each other, dearest hearts. Blessings are always around!

ALWAYS (RED) AT HEART, debbie :)
