But you may be wondering, how much money is that? Well...
- It’s five times the amount the Global Fund received from private companies in the previous four years.
- It's even more money than is given each year by committed donor countries like Denmark ($23 million), Australia ($13 million), Belgium ($10 million), and many others.
- Most importantly, it's enough to buy medicine for about 160,000 Africans with AIDS for a year.
We have a long way to go in the fight against AIDS. To find out more about the Global Fund or donate money directly click here.
Buying (RED) is just one way to help. But it's nice to see that the (RED) nation has joined the fight!

Thanks BN for delineating for us just how much $25 million is. In the lives of the thousands of people that are saved because of the money donated to the Global Fund through (RED), this money is worth everything in the world!
Keep strong, my dear friends at (RED), and stay focused on your work.
What (RED) does for the world's poorest people is already blessed. We are just all a part of making (RED) more productive to save more lives.
Take very good care of each other. Blessings always.
ALWAYS (RED) AT HEART, debbie
the most important number in this report is 160,000, and that times 365 days, or is that 720 doses times the 160,000, those are the amazing numbers that matter. when the dollar is a more valuable number than a life, something's gone terribly wrong.
a year's worth of life and health because we are going to invest in clothing and accessories anyway . . . . and when given a choice, let's chose to benefit them. we pay no more than we would have anyway, but the partner and patient both benefit with us too.
maybe it just seems too obvious to me that everyone wins here. and i'm befuddled why anyone, any ad agency, any journalist no matter how jaded, would have a problem with that. any human being for that matter.
i remember that breast cancer started being taken seriously not too many years ago as more and more in the west had a mother, sister, aunt, friend, neighbor, teacher, lover who was affected and lost a breast or a life to this. it's not a joking matter, it's taken dead serious and any effort, large or small, is deeply appreciated. any first sign of this potential diagnosis is terrifying and dealt with immediately and agressively, no matter who it is or the cost. it's no longer the automatic death sentence it used to be, yet a cure still evades us.
sadly i fear it may come to that before the war on AIDS, XDR TB, and malaria are taken seriously and not brushed aside. i'm with you on banking and praying that we won't have to wait that long.
thank you for being one of the first ventures of your kind. $25 million is an awesome awesome number, in partial willing profits for only a partial year. but 160,000 is a more awesome number. the paradigm just needs to shift by many out there on which number is more important, which one is dominant in the press. i hope some will realize that.
stay close,
sammi =)
I think it is great to see so many people comming together for such a great cause. My question is why is the focus on Africa instead of the U.S. where we have a big problem with AIDS as well, and using the monies that are raised here to help on the home front. Everyone gets so focused on the worlds problems, that we forget to take care of our own problems. My challange is to not forget about helping our neighbors, while still helping the people of the world. Thank you for such a wouderful fund raising effort fo such a needed cause.
