Morija Printing Works in Lesotho

When Motorola joined (RED), they sought to work with companies in Africa and found Morija Printing Works in Lesotho to make the beautiful red packaging for their (RED) cell phones. After a visit to the Morija print shop two weeks ago, Motorola sent us some of these amazing photos of people at work and play, and also some candids of the print shop workers and their family members. You'll also get to see some of the absolutely breathtaking landscape in Lesotho in these photos.

There are over 400 photos total, but we wanted to show you this first batch that we just received. Motorola is also working on a short film about the life of a Morija printing press operator, which we will post for you as soon as we have it.

Click here to see more photos on the (RED) flickr page.

Have a great weekend,
bn

Hey BN,

What a GREAT story and just ONE more reason why I love (RED) so much. (smile)

As I'm sure that y'all know by now, I have a very soft spot in my heart for Lesotho, going back at least the five years now that I have been a part of a local humanitarian organization in my town that funds programs in Lesotho to assist HIV/AIDS affected families.

So when GAP(RED) decided to locate the production of its tees in Maseru - I was elated as I was when hearing that EDUN would locate a lot of its clothing production in Butha-Buthe. Now, you are telling me that Morija and its printing company are also working with (RED).

This is such continued GOOD NEWS for the People of Lesotho and for its economy.

The smiles on the people's faces in Morija are priceless and the picture gallery is amazing.THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, (RED)!

The positive impact that your efforts are bringing to Lesotho are going to reverberate in this tiny nation's economy for a very long time to come - bringing much needed HOPE FOR THEIR FUTURE.

Take very good care of yourselves, my friends. Blessings will surround (RED) always.

And I will be....ALWAYS (RED) AT HEART, debbie

I am speachless with those pics. Beautiful and it just made me forget about those little daily problems. These pictures reminds me to be thankful for everything that I have and to be proud of somehow being part of such a beautiful thing that is Product(RED).

Thank you (RED) and Motorola for sharing the pics with all of us.

Have a great weekend!

these photos are precious. it's great that the support businesses like this packaging can be done in Lesotho too, but i'll tell ya, it makes it hard to even throw the packaging away! but photos like this . . . . . i've seen many this weekend at the regional RESULTS conference here in seattle . . . . the successful microfinancing stands in a region just northwest of Lesotho in SA. i bunked near a girl who is working with Grameen Bank which has set up a highschool after-school program similar to an FBLA program we have here in america of microloan-financed businesses, mentoring by a brilliant teacher. 2/3rds of the funding they try to give to girls, but the success rate is much higher with boys are girls are more often needed in the home with the orphaned sibblings. but catching them as teens gives them responsibility and keeps them out of trouble and promicuity and such, as well as keeps them in school. they are paying back the loans and making money, yet the laws of the land are such that they can't open a bank account until they are 18 years old! great stuff. and proudly a few of us were able to share with those not very familiar the work and philosophy of (red) and i had some GAP cards to distribute to them. those not very familiar were people who were working in extreme poverty work in africa and other countries and are very greatful for projects like this.

this seems to have become more popular: i saw a few this weekend, especially from the Make Poverty History people out of Calgary Canada. i first saw it at the ONE meeting here last month and did this myself . . . . and that is the practice of putting a small GAP (red) pin on the ONE bands we wear. i love it as my two bands (i wear a ONE and an MPH band) never leave my wrist and i find that people who are used to seeing them now comment on the pin and i either give it to them or tell them about it. do you do this pin on the ONE band where you are?

blessings on all you do. i met a number of recipients of Global Funding this weekend and felt the connectedness of all these efforts of yours, mine, and their's. God bless you all richly.

stay close,

sammi
