Exciting news - in just one week since we launched our (RED) profile on MySpace, there are more than 14,000 members in our community.
I'm so happy most of you - our earliest friends, blog readers and contributors - joined the MySpace group within the first couple of days. It has been wonderful to put faces and interests with names (and blog comments). Thank you also for posting bulletins and informing your family and friends about (RED).
Some of you have already written fabulous and creative comments on our profile and posted pictures of yourselves with (RED) products. I share all this information and your comments with our partners who are so appreciative of your enthusiasm and support.
If you haven't already done so, check out our profile - it's a great place to meet some other (RED) people: www.myspace.com/joinred. Many thanks to MySpace for making (RED) a Featured Profile. We appreciate their ongoing support and friendship - they're an important part of our (RED) movement. Some of you have already sent Tom "thank you" messages. It means a lot to us that MySpace hear your appreciation - so thank YOU!
As Colin alluded to in a prior entry, we are outgrowing our temporary office space and have been searching for a new place to call home. Amy and Colin have been working hard to find a central location, with a (RED) vibe. It's LA and no matter where you live, you can spend a couple hours a day commuting and we'd all rather be (and need to be) working than sitting in traffic.
Heading back to myspace now to add those of you who posted your MySpace profile URLs to my personal MySpace page.

Lisa on Wimbledon

Here's a post from one of our (RED) team members, Lisa, working in the UK:
Was so excited to get invited to Wimbledon last week! AMEX (RED) was one of the major sponsors and you really couldn’t escape it from the minute you stepped off the tube (or subway for those of you not based in the UK). AMEX had turned Southfields station red – literally. Instead of the dull cement décor, the platform looked like court grass, the umbrellas a bright red and you couldn’t miss the messages that it was actually possible to indulge and do good at the same time!
By the time I got to Wimbledon, our AMEX (RED) friends Andy Roddick and Venus Williams – who both came out in support of (RED) and the new AMEX (RED) card – were unfortunately out of the tournament. In typical English style, it rained on and off throughout the afternoon. But the sun finally did come out for me to see the FAVOU(RED) Roger Federer play Mario Ancic in the quarter finals.
I’m guessing approximately 400,000 people visited Wimbledon this year for the tournament. I hope many of them saw the great stuff AMEX was doing and will go (RED)!

SNEAKE(RED)

Hey everybody,
Thanks so much for your comments. I like the idea of a “comparative advantage based on ethics”. Even more, I like the idea of a comparative advantage based on fun. What if we could tinker with the market so that you all you had to do was have the most fun? Sign me up.
…which brings me to my minor thought of the day.
Not to single anybody out but I have been thinking about our friends at Converse and, shamelessly, have come up with my personal...
...“Top five reasons Converse is (RED)”.
5) The more you wear them, the better they get. Put them in the washing machine, people.
4) When we met Converse, they immediately sent guys on motorcycles into Mali to buy traditional African mudcloth to make shoes out of them. Before we had a signed contract. (Who does that?). The result: the incredible mudcloth shoe.
3) Anyone making a record that is going to change your life is probably wearing Chuck Taylors right now (if they are wearing shoes at all).
2) Converse has a line of sneakers coming out for (RED) with amazing collaborators. Buying any of them will send money to the Global Fund. Sneaker people, stay tuned...
And my number one reason Converse is (RED)…
1) As long as Converse is a (RED) partner, I can wear sneakers to any business meeting I damn well please.
Let's Build (RED),
Colin
