Measu(red)

It's been just under 3 weeks since we launched (RED) in the U.S. and we already have some exciting news to report.

(PRODUCT) RED sales in the U.S. in just two and half weeks have raised enough money to:

Provide more than 10,000 men or women with ARV treatment for a year
(Note: These treatments are only a small portion of a person’s overall treatment and represent just one year of lifelong treatment)

Or

Provide more than 1 million peer educators with HIV training

Or

Provide a year’s worth of school materials and daily hot meals for more than 35,000 children orphaned by AIDS

Or

Provide more than 650,000 Rapid Tests which detect HIV and deliver instant test results.

We've also learned that the Gap (PRODUCT) RED INSPI(RED) T-shirt Oprah wore on her Oct 13th show was the best selling item across the entire Gap brand for the month of October.

The Motorola RED RAZR will hit store shelves nationwide at Sprint and all US Cellular stores in early November. Through limited distribution in Chicago in October, the RED RAZR has been selling at more than twenty times the average rate of RAZRs sold through US Cellular channels.

Check back tomorrow afternoon - I'll have some other great (PRODUCT) RED partner news to share with you.

Colette

Hey Colette and bn,

How GREAT to hear from you again, Colette!

And with such GREAT NEWS too!

I am very proud and pleased of the response that RED has received so far in the USA - but there is so much more to do.

So please continue to tell your friends and families about RED and why they should buy RED to make the U.S. contribution to the Global Fund as immense as possible!

It will make you feel good to share this info with everyONE you know because RED is all about getting as much money into the Global Fund as possible.

Take very good care of youself, Colette and bn. Hope to hear from you soon.

Blessings surround us always.

ONE in the Spirit, debbie

I thihnk read is a great project! I have bought some of the merchandise. However I'm a little concerned that only $10 from the gap t-shirt is going to AIDS in africa. That seems like a huge mark-up on the typical Gap Shirt. Where is that other money going?

Congratulations on the super initiative!

I am curious about one thing, though: is there any way of knowing what amount is donated by sponsors when we buy a given product?

this is what i've been waiting to hear. at my meetings when folks are asking about (red), i've wanted to tell them some mearsurable features that the launch in america has brought in less than a month. a number of the seattle area GAP stores have thin (red) stock already, makes me as giddy at bn!

and now i can report on when the phones will be coming our way. that was the next question. and if the president of AMEX will heed our call . . . .

great stuff, so proud of you. and last night we discussed Paul Farmer's work with assistance from The Global Fund, and i just felt this sweet satisfaction that we common people can contribute to this, making a difference in others quality of life, or in most cases, life itself. he, like you, finds innovative ways outside the box for the benefit of our extreme poor, perfectly aware if we do what we've always done, we're going to get what we always got!

great day to you all. thanx for this news, made my day. . . .

stay close,

sammi

(Red) companies give money when (red) products are bought. That means if you buy a (product)red iPod, at no extra cost, money goes to the fight against AIDS. But is that enough? How about this? What would happen, say, if they always gave money to the AIDS campaign, if Apple gave a little every time an iPod was sold and everytime a computer was sold. Everytime anything was sold. It is a step in the right direction, but it is not a step enough. We as "first world" consumers do have power. But YOU as first world companies have even more. Make a real change. Give money, no matter what, what could you lose? Imagine the press, "Apple to Give Percentage of Income to Fight AIDS." What expense is it to you? You make more than enough money as it is. I am sure you make more mone in a year than many African countries deal with in a year. Consider that. And then consider your responsability, as a company, to the world. And consumers, a step in the right direction is good, but remember that is it never enough. It is only a step and we need many, many more.
